Body Therapy

Reiki

A  precise method for connecting ‘universal life energy' with the body’s own innate healing abilities. It too is a primarily ‘hands-on’ art useful to restore homeostasis and promote the highest healing good. It can be done on all living things.

Muscular Therapy

A system of treatment and education Developed by Ben Benjamin. Influenced by the theories & practices of Dr. Wilhelm Reich, F.M. Alexander, Dr. James Cyriax and Alfred Kagan, and taught at Muscular Therapy Institute (MTI)

Muscular therapy is designed to break down chronic tension through deep tissue hands-on technique and education about self care. Treatments are specifically designed for individuals. The
system differs from traditional Swedish massage in that it is more specific, has specific techniques for individual areas of the body often includes suggestions for body care and/or stretching. Uses varying speeds and rhythms but, generally, does not use percussion, tapotement, or vibration nor is performed only in the direction of the heart.

Lauterstein’s Deep Massage

Techniques ‘focus on restoring length, buoyancy, openness, freedom, release, alignment, and decompression in order to enliven specific areas. The goal is to deeply affect the client’s experience of their body and thereby enhance their ‘spiritual range of motion’. This is accomplished by working slowly, without oil or lotion in a ‘deep’ manner that refers to the powerful depth of experience, not just to the amount of the therapist’s pressure’.

Shiatsu/Acupressure Techniques

From Japan, shiatsu translates as ‘finger pushing’ and is pressure applied to acupoints along meridian lines to release tension and increase circulation, thereby restoring balance. Click here for more information.

Healing Touch-(HT)

An energy based therapeutic approach to healing. Touch is used to influence the human energy system in order to promote harmony, balance and assist in self-healing on physical, mental, emotional and spiritual levels. Click here for more information.

Paraffin Heat Therapy

A form of heat therapy, where the affected area is either dipped into hot wax or hot wax is ‘painted’ on to the area. It contours to the applied area and seals in moist heat. It is used to increase circulation locally and to soften and smooth areas of dry skin. It should not be used on open cuts or wounds, warts, inflamed skin, or when sensation to an area is decreased.
